Bridemaids dresses - done!

The bridemaid's dress - often such stuff as nightmare's are made on... oy vey! But I'm happy to report that Charlotte has made her selection and we'll be looking chic and elegant in this lacey one-shoulder sheath. Thanks girl!

Tip to brides - don't expect too much of your bridesmaid's dress - if you want it too coordinate with the tablecloths, napkins and your mom's shoes - you're on the wrong track. Think like a Broadway costume designer - what look will flatter your chorus, carry the theme and make you - the solo act pop? But most importantly, ask yourself - will you want to wear it?

Back to our lacey number. It's such an on-trend look. The Spring 2012 RTW shows were awash with lace & lady like looks - lovely inspiration.

To gyp or not?

I have never been fond of gypsophila - always viewed it as an insipid overused filler. The typical roses & baby's breath arrangement wrapped in cellophane - unimaginative. Often called a classic because it's been done for years and not because it works. C'mon people we can do better than this!

But gyp remains popular and if you're doing vintage style flowers the question of gyp rears its delicate head. I might have been too harsh because gyp can look amazing (is it really me writing this...) The secret to using gyp stylishly - only en masse.

This pic must surely be the sexiest display of gyp ever to be seen. Hip gyp? Oh yes!

The Bridal Bouquet

Sticking with flowers, let's turn our attention to the bridal bouquet. The general rule of thumb is: short dress small bouquet. I do feel my job is to ensure that Charlotte decides on the perfect one for her, even if her choice flouts all the rules! We have discussed her bouquet and her general preference is for a loosely styled hand-tied bouquet which is always charming but I do wonder if a garden style bouquet will be the best accessory for her dress which is overtly glamorous. So I've put together a selection of references for her.

Not often done because brides feel that a bouquet gives them something to do with their hands but remember you only carry the bouquet for the length of the aisle then you hand it over to a bridesmaid so why not sashay Claudia Schiffer-style down the red carpet and allow your guests to take in the whole glorious you rather than hiding behind flowers? And there is something old-worldly about a corsage...

The Wedding Party

I was planning to post on centrepieces but yesterday saw these pics of Tara Subkoff's new collection for Imitation of Christ and I am in love. The show was set-up as a 1920's wedding processional with the models styled as bridesmaids & groomsmen.

Apparently this couple really got married during the fashion show!

Now for the bridesmaid dress inspiration - a midi-length tassle skirt with a beaded top perhaps?

A Midsummer's Night Dream

When Charlotte viewed the Burlap Burlesque post some of the images conjured up a feeling of the play A Midsummer's Night Dream. I found some images of weddings referencing the play. Some are a but OTT and was styled as such for a wedding mag but there are some really nice
